Half an hour later, Harry, Draco, Hermione, Ron and Ginny were sitting awkwardly around the coffee table in the living room. Everyone had a cup of tea or coffee (Harry had tea to calm down-Hermione’s orders). He was still feeling weak because of the dizzy spell he had so he leaned his back against the squishy red sofa. The fire was crackling and the room itself was calming. The room had warm colors of red; not Gryffindor red more of a blood red.
“So,” Ginny began, “When did you become…you know. Gay.”
“I don’t know, i have’nt been counting the days.” Harry replied.
“Mate, you could have told me.” Ron frowned.
“I still don’t get why this is such a big deal.” Draco chipped in.
“As if you know what this feels like.” Ron made a growling sort of noise.
“I do actually.”
“Oh yeah? Prove it.”
“Surprise, Weasel! I’m gay.” Draco smirked at Ron’s shocked face.
“Please can you just stop?” Harry was clutching to edge of the sofa now. Why wasn’t the dizzyness going away? Why was it getting worse?
“Harry? Are you okay?” Hermione asked worriedly.
“I’m fine. I’m just going to lie down for a bit.”
Harry left the room and climbed up to his room with difficulty. Hermione watched the boy leave the room. He was swaying.
“We have to do something. We can’t ignore this any longer. It’s getting worse…”
“How long has he been like this?” asked Ginny.
“Since the war.”
“He’s been like this for eight months?”
“Why haven’t you done anything before now?!”
“We have! Nothing’s worked. We’ve tried everything we could think of.”
“He refuses to take them.”
“Why don’t you slip a really strong sleeping potion and dreamless sleep and put one of them thing in him… The muggle thing in hospitals.”
“Feeding tubes…I guess hat could work.”
“Can someone please tell me what a feeding tube is?”
“What’s a bloddy feeding tube?” Ron and Draco both talked at the same time. They glared at eachother from across the table.
“It’s exacly what it sounds like: a tube that puts food in you without having to swallow it.” Hermione explained.
“That’s revolting.” Draco hissed.
“It isn’t that bad. And anyway, do you have any other ideas?” Draco didn’t reply. “Great. Let’s do it without the feeding tube first. Just give him the potions so he can get a bit of strength back.”
“I’ve got potions…” said Draco sulumnly.
“Go get them then.”
A couple of minutes later, they were all agthered around a sleeping Harry. He was twitching in his sleep-probably have an other nightmare.
“Give him the sleeping potion first. That’s it, just drip it in. Great, now do the dreamless sleep.” instucted Hermione.
Instantly, the boy stoped twitching.
“He looks so paceful…” Draco went to stand next to Hermione and she squeezed his hand. The blonds hand twitched but he didn’t pull away. Ron noticed and pulled Hermione away from teh Slytherin.
“Can you not hold my girlfriends hand.”
“Ow grow up Weasel.”
“You grow up, Ferret.” Ron pulled out his wand.
“Boys!” Both Hermione and Ginny hissed.
Ron slid his wand back in his sleeve and stomped downstairs and Ginny followed. Hermione looked apolagetically at Draco and left the room. Draco transfigured a chair next to Harry’s bed and fell asleep, wondering if Harry was ever going to get better.
He got woken up a few hours later by Hermione who was carrying two mugs of hot chocolate. He gave one to Draco who nodded in thanks and transfigures herself a chair to sit next to Draco.
“How much longer will he sleep?” asked Hermione in a whisper.
“How long have i been up here?” replied Draco.
“Probably another twenty-one ours.” Hermione looked at the boy in shock.
“It was a very stong potion and i gave him a whole vial. Anyway, it’s a good thing he will be asleep for so long, he needs it.”
“I guess so…”
“Hermione, he hasn’t slept for months. A days sleep won’t hurt him.”
“Yes. You’re right.”
“You can go back downstairs you know. I’m keeping an eye on him.”
“No, don’t worry. I’ll keep you company.”
“If you want.”
after a moments silence, Draco spoke again.
“Do you think he’ll ever get better?”
“He has to. He didn’t survive the war for this.”
“But…What if he doesn’t?”
“We have to think positive.”
“He’s going to get through this.” Hermione muttered more to herself than to Draco.
